Message in a Bottle (MIAB)

Thorne Rural Lions are involved in the Message in a bottle project.

Within Thorne we provide the containers for use by the local Message in a Bottle Scheme. The Message in a Bottle project provides the emergency services with a known location for essential information in the event of an accident or sudden illness of people living on their own.

It consists of a form for the essential information. This information is then stored in a specially provided container in the individuals fridge. A sticker is also provided to be placed in a visible location near the main door.

The Bottle scheme is provided free of charge and they can usually be found in your local Chemist or Doctors Surgeries around Doncaster.

LIONS EYE GLASSES & HEARING AIDS COLLECTION

You can drop off your usable eyewear& hearing aids at Lions-sponsored collection boxes in your community. Donate glasses and change someone’s life. Imagine if you could help a child read. An adult succeed in his job. A senior maintain her independence. And provide a community with more opportunities to grow and thrive.

Everyday, our recycled eyeglass programs do all of this and more. Here’s how you can donate glasses and help.

In just about any dresser drawer, one can find a pair of eyeglasses that are no longer being used. That same pair of eyeglasses can change another person’s life.
